Anheuser-Busch Growers and Smart Agriculture

Connecting our great American growers with great resources and strengthening our farming community gives us PURPOSE BEYOND BREWING.

American farmers and growers are at the heart of Anheuser-Busch’s great-tasting beer. That's why we are proud to support our growers in producing the best ingredients in ways that are responsible, sustainable, and benefit the communities where we brew.

Meet some of our growers who are tirelessly dedicated to growing the highest quality crops, and take pride in their partnership with Anheuser-Busch:

Nearly 100% of our corn, rice, and barley come from America’s farmers

Anheuser-Busch proudly supports farmers and the agricultural community by sourcing 100% of the corn and rice, and 98% of the barley that go into our beers from U.S. farms. In just the last ten years, we have purchased $5.5 billion of American farmers’ best ingredients, such as corn, rice, and barley. In 2018, we sourced 16 million bushels of corn from American farmers.

Driving innovation in agriculture

Anheuser-Busch proudly supports the same farmers we work so closely with to drive industry innovation. Since the early 1980s, Anheuser-Busch has driven agriculture research and development, even pioneering new high-yield barley varieties that use 40 percent less water.

We continue to drive innovation by connecting American growers to technology and benchmarking resources in our SmartAgriculture programs.

Through programs such as SmartBarley, we directly work with more than 1,000 U.S. corn, hops, barley, and rice growers, providing real-time access to weather patterns, water data, and latest seed research to create varieties that produce the highest quality and best yields.

Our close partnerships help us invest in ingredients that use less water and fungicides, while increasing tolerance to disease, drought, and other extreme weather conditions.
